The Grounds

Situated on over 25 acres of pristine grasslands, the grounds of the Ballinacurra property have always been one of its chief allures.

Comprised of gorgeously landscaped gardens, and a kitchen vegetable garden, the property is fronted by a 12-foot-high stone wall dating back to the 16th century. In addition to its many gardens, the Ballinacurra estate is also replete with mature hardwood trees, fragrant fruit trees, and an antique wellhead. The property is also poised for large-scale entertainment with multiple lawns, expansive grounds, a traditional croquet lawn, and a children's playground.

The sheer scale of Ballinacurra’s grounds also lend the property to a variety of outdoor activities. A fenced sand riding area, two stables, and a fenced horse paddock are ideal for the most seasoned of equestrians. For nature lovers, the property also borders the ancient forest of the Kippagh Woods. Ballinacurra’s grounds are so expansive that the West Wing field has also been used to land up to four helicopters at any given time.

The best part of Ballinacurra, however, are its expansive waterfronts. Extending to the ground’s ornamental pond and surrounding rivers, Ballinacurra boasts its own riverside walks, streams, bridges, and pagoda. A rebuilt jetty, fishing deck, and picnic areas make it ideal for riverside entertaining and recreation.  The estate also enjoys private water frontage onto Ballinacurra and Whitecastle creeks, which both feed into the River Bandon.

The Mansion House

Georgian-Style, Two-Storey Mansion of approximately 18,400 Square Feet

Ballinacurra’s Mansion House is easily the estate’s most impressive building. The home’s exterior is an elegant confluence of stone walls and plaster finish, complete with a natural slate roof.  

Encompassing 14 individually-themed ensuite bedrooms, the Mansion House offers every resort accommodation. Complete with a domestic country style kitchen and a full commercial chef’s kitchen featuring state-of-the-art appliances and wash-up area, the home is poised to operate as a boutique hotel.

Once inside, the home’s remodelled windows fill every room of the house with warm natural light while gazing out to picturesque vistas of the Irish countryside. Replaced in 2003, the Mansion House’s windows are timber casement or sliding sash, single and double-glazed. The home’s floors are all solid varnish timber throughout. Each of the home’s bedrooms features an ensuite bathroom with Royal Doulton antique baths, separate showers, and hand basins. A majority of the home’s bedrooms are located on the first floor–two of which are located on the ground floor with wheelchair access.

In addition to its plethora of bedrooms, the Mansion House also features an expansive library, Green Room with antique fireplace, Red Room with double-sided stove, private bar, and Garden Room converted from the estate’s greenhouse. The Mansion House’s main ballroom also doubles as the estate’s formal dining room.  Also included is the Ballinacurra's Bubbly Bar, which soundchecks the retro themes of an extraordinary cast of music superstars from Motown's golden era.


 

Originally constructed in the 1700s as a part of Ballinacurra’s Mansion House, the Stone Cottage was fully renovated in 2000 and is now its own detached house encompassing 1,840 square feet. Its facade is comprised of brick and stone under a pitched natural slate roof. Inside, accommodations consist of 4 ensuite bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms as well as an open plan kitchen, dining area, and living area. The upstairs bedrooms are accessible via a vintage cast iron spiral staircase. Solid timber floors run throughout, as large sliding sash and single glazed windows look out to breathtaking pastoral views. A private garden is poised for private moments in the rolling landscape.

The Stone Cottage

Constructed from the property’s original design, the Coach House is a detached 1.5 storey house encompassing 1,200 square feet. Extensively refurbished, the building has retained its original gables and stonewall at the back of the property. A pitched and slated roof and glazed timber windows further add to the building’s rustic and cozy charm. Accommodations include 4 ensuite bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and an intimate kitchen area.

Ballinacurra's Lodge is where the estate's current owner's reside.  Encompassing 6 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms, the Lodge is 2,800 square feet.  Enclosed within its own gate and private driveway, the 1.5 storey house enjoys privacy away from the rest of Ballinacurra's houses.  Southerly situated, the home's skylights filter in the morning sun, as a covered outdoor dining terrace is ideally situated for watching the sun set into the Irish countryside.  The building's bedrooms are all located on the home's northerly side, and overlook unobstructed views of the River Bandon.  The Lodge includes Greenheart solid wood floors, porcelain tiles and a polished chrome staircase.  Accommodations include a double-height living room with fireplace, open plan kitchen, office, media room, and play room.

Opportunities for Future Expansion

The capacity of the Estate may be expanded which would increase accommodations with concepts adding up to 40 additional Ensuite Bedrooms and additional New Lodges

Hogan Associates, one of Cork’s most respected Architecture and Urban Design firms has been appointed to provide concepts for what potential future expansion could look like.

Various options showcase the potential for the location of future expansion to be located within the current site of the 10 Acre Walled Garden. Three concepts show a variety of future potential.

In addition, a leading Architectural Planning Consultant has been engaged and given confirmation of the integrity of the proposals.
